If you’ve been following Hourspent, you’ll notice that
we are interested in people’s skills, work-life, ideas and magic even when we
were freelancers. Why? What’s the big deal? Are we that passionate about this?
On the personal side, check about Hourspent.well, let’s say we really enjoy it. There’s another reason. When you
feel your skill sucks, we’re right there with you!
When we started freelancing prior to launching
Hourspent, our skills sucks, big time! So, it’s not new to us. Hourspent
founder understands this better than anyone. As we strive to master our skills, we leverage resources, tools, advice
and now, how about we pay it forward to help those who are where we were a
Flaunting one’s skills is pretty easy but mastering
your skills isn’t.Creating an engaging
video or image on daily basis is really tough. So today we are putting together
this piece because we know where you are coming from and can lend a helping
hand. More importantly, we take skills flaunting more seriously because it is
now the main piece prospects see in order to access your skills.
they’ve found someone to look up to for this kind of stuff. And for you, well,
you’ll probably see it as ‘’skills marketing’’. On Hourspent, we see Skills
marketing as a build-up content in form of videos, images or even comment. Yes,
we agree with you, there is more to Skills marketing than just that.
STEP TO SUCCESS
With Social media, marketing your skills is one step
to success. You can dive into it by showing how you get things done with your
skills. It’s one thing to say you are an app developer on LinkedIn, Facebook,
Twitter, you name it. It’s another thing to show how to actually build those
apps. And of course, none is expecting you to be very detailed, we all know it
could take you hours but if you could nail the basics on Hourspent, perfect! It
saves your time and that of prospects with their rigorous questions.
SEEN WHY IT’S IMPORTANT?
Regardless of how bad you think your skills are, or how
limited you know or feel it is, we at Hourspent want to help you improve.
YOU THINK YOUR SKILL STILL SUCKS?
Before you say yes, check out Hourspent 2nd logo.
The first logo sucks so much that we had it entirely
removed from our database. Yea, we love that popular adage; ''Remember your
humble beginning’’, our first logo is not humble for us to begin with. It’s
capital HS while the S points downwards and the colour was blue. The H connects
to the S. With your imagination, figure out how it was.
So, you can agree with us that the 2nd logo sucks but
not like the first.
If you are a Freelancer, Independent contractors, you
should be in these three main classes.
have an inferiority complex when it comes to your skills. Some think they’re
terrible, but actually, they’re not really that bad.
problem is quite the opposite; When it comes to your niche, James Bond got
nothing on you. You feel you have the perfect skills and wouldn’t hesitate to
flaunt it butthat is different when
it comes to other people as they seem not to feel your perfect skills the way
you are feeling about it right now.
3.Or you are
just on the ''fence’’. You know you aren’t the world best in your field and
either the world’s worst.
IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
To amazingly flaunt your skills, try to know why it
sucks. When you’ve identified what made it sucks, you’ve solved half of the
problem. E.g. You as a writer, can’t write an engaging content. You know your
content can’t even engage your friend for the next 5 minutes. The best bet is
to look for a writer that writes far better than you. Read the writers article,
grade his and yours. It will help you pinpoint what sucks in your writing. You
may notice, the good writer did tons of research, analysing it, started with
telling his story and even offered a tip.
The same is applicable to web developers, graphic
designers, illustrators, architects, hair stylist etc. Simply grade your work
and the experts work to know what sucks. Take note of each new idea and pattern
he brought into his work. You may want to outsource your work and eventually
flaunt it when done by someone else. Yes, you get the credit and the other
party takes the pay. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it saves time.
But if you are on a very tight budget or you are still a start-up. Then this is
what you should really do.
Yes, leave it and figure out what looks amazing in
your reader’s eyes.
OK, let’s help.Let’s nicely split this down so it sounds easy and weighs in to what
you’ve been thinking.
